Abseiling Proficiency Course Level Two

Rig-up. Ascend. Overcome Situations.

Abseiling Proficiency Level 2 is a follow up from Level 1 where you will learn more skills to descend on ropes as well as learning to ascend on one.

Participants will be introduced to the various knots and hitches, learning to rig up an abseil system, perform ascend and descend using accessory cords, and more.

SNAS Level 2 is certified under Singapore Sport Climbing and Mountaineering Federation.

What will you learn?

  • Ascend and descend on a fixed line using accessory cords.

  • Ascend on rope and changeover to abseil with backup

  • More rescue techniques

Requirements

  • At least 16 years of age.
  • Completed and attained Abseiling Proficiency Level 1 certification.

Duration

  • 2 days of 7 hours (inclusive lunch break)
  • 9.30am till 5.30pm

  • SAFRA Adventure Sports Centre (Yishun)

Knots and Hitches

  • Double Figure of 8 knot

  • Double Fisherman knot

  • Tape knot

  • Friction knots

  • Clove, Italian and Half Hitch

  • Ascend and changeover to abseil with backup

Self Rescue Techniques

  • Escape from jammed devices, cords.

  • Escape from knotted rope or joint ropes

Ascend and Descend Practice

  • Abseil with different devices

  • Abseil with backup

  • Ascend and descend on ropes using accessory cords
